Seeing a doctor
There is a Health Centre in Drumnadrochit. We can assist you to make an appointment and arrange transport to the surgery if you require this. Alternatively, GPs can also visit you here at the Centre. If you are registered with another health care practice outwith Drumnadrochit and require to see a GP whilst you are at the Centre, we can arrange an appointment or visit and assist you to register as a temporary patient.
The Great Glen Pharmacy in Drumnadrochit is open all year for your convenience Monday to Saturday from 8.45am to 6pm. There is a prescription collection and delivery service for patients of the Drumnadrochit, Beauly, Aird and Croyard Surgeries, and a delivery service to the village of Cannich.
Medical Practice Nurses
The medical practices in Drumnadrochit and Beauly have their own Practice Nurses. The Practice Nurse can provide assistance with health screening such as routine blood tests, dietary advice, blood pressure checks, immunisation such as flu vaccine. The Centre can arrange an appointment for anyone who wishes to attend.
The Community nurses who work in the areas the Glenurquhart Centre serves cover the Drumnadrochit and Beauly practices. Part of their role is to provide assistance for example with dressings, continence assessment and support, management of chronic conditions and palliative care. We can arrange for the community nurse to see you at the Centre or your home if any of their services are required.
An NHS Podiatorist holds a clinic at the Health Centre every week. Appointments are made via the NHS Podiatory department, (tel 01463 723250). We can refer on your behalf if require this assistance.
If you require to see a physiotherapist we can assist you to refer via your GP. If you have programme of exercises to undertake we can assist you with this.
Calum and Wendy Fraser of Visual Eye Care opticians visit the centre on a regular basis. If you wish to use this service, appointments can be made for you or they can arrange a home visit if you would prefer.
There are two toilets situated to the right of the main doorway and one in the middle area of the centre. They are fully accessible for all. . If you require assistance with personal care we will discuss your individual needs with you. In line with Health and Safety requirements, we have hot water regulators fitted at all hot water outlets and testing is carried out once per week.
